Craigavon Chapter meeting Tuesday 14 th June Seagoe Hotel Portadown
This event is on Tuesday 14 June 2016The speaker for our Dinner Meeting being held in the Seagoe Hotel Portadown on Tuesday the 14th June for 7.30pm will be Dessie Farr who is a well know local chap. Dessie, who is one of a family of eight and originally from Stewartstown was sent to Sunday School and Church, although his parents weren’t church going people themselves, which was a common thing in those days. During these early years he attended a children’s meeting which was ran by the Faith Mission and was convicted of sin in his life from which he repented and asked Jesus to take control of his life. Like many young people he found being a Christian wasn’t easy and little by little his heart grew cold and with no one to help he backslid completely. Leaving school, as soon as was permitted, he began in a career of doing whatever he could to earn as much money as possible. This included joining the Territorial Army and running the bar. He was also a part time Bar Man in a pub and became a Traffic Warden. His life style had became one which was controlled by drink and continuous smoking, all of which took its toll on his health, with him eventually needing to have a double By-Pass Operation. We would love if you could join with us to hear all of Dessie’s story. We realise that it is not always possible for everyone to arrive in time for the meal, but please be assured that you will be most welcome to join with us later. The meal is usually over around 8.30pm so any time after this won’t be an embarrassment for you to come in.
